Q. What is a vape coil and how does it work?

Answer: A vape coil is a metal spiral-shaped hard wire component that, together with your wicking cotton (or other material) heats up the e-liquid in your e-cigarette and turns it into vapour (hence why we call it “vaping”). The coil itself sites within your e-cigarette’s atomizer compartment and is powered by the battery in your vape mod.

Q. Why should you clean your vape coil?

Answer: A common question we get asked is: “can I replace my vape coils?” The simple answer is yes, you can clean and reuse your vape coils. Every e-cigarette build is different, and the amount of times you can reuse your vape coil depends on a number of variables. This includes your mod type, its age, the type of coils, the mod wattage, type and flavour of vape juice and the way and frequency that you use your e-cigarette. But cleaning your coils regularly ensures that you get maxium performance by getting rid of all that accumulated the gunk (which is more scientifically known as “excess carbon deposits” or simply “charcol”).

Q. What happens if you don’t clean your vape coil?

Answer: You’ll notice that after a while your e-cig gives decreased performance including not giving you as much flavour and your longer hits getting rough towards the end of the hit instead of smooth. These are clear signs that you need to clean your coil and replace the wick. Of course you could simply remove and replace your coil, but that would be taking the jam out of the doughnut of your vaping experience. Depending on your coil 1-2 months of coil clean can be undertaken before replacement is necessary. When your flavour and vapour doesn’t return to normal it’s time to replace your coil.
